APC chieftain says removal of its Governors will not stop party from defeating PDP

National Welfare Officer of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Dikko Radda has said that the removal of Murtala Nyako as governor as well as the plan to impeach other APC governors will not deter the party from winning the 2015 elections.

This, he hinged on the belief that Nigerians were eager to vote out the Peoples Democratic Party-led federal government in 2015.

Dikko, in an interview with Leadership, also alleged that the request by President Goodluck Jonathan to borrow $1bn to tackle insurgency had an undisclosed motive.

According too him, the president is only looking for money to fund his 2015 campaign, saying his administration is yet to justify the trillions of naira budgeted for security in the last few years.

He said, "I don't believe they are requesting any money for security because in the last few years, the federal government has budgeted over N1 trillion for security annually but instead of the security situation to improve, it is getting worse. I think Jonathan is just requesting money for election in 2015.

On Nyako, Dikko insisted that "There are clearly the hands of the federal government in the impeachment saga of APC governors. And what I am trying to say is whatever they will do, the Nigerian people are ready. What they did in Adamawa and got away with, the people of Nasarawa will not allow them.

He enjoined all lovers of Nigeria's democracy to stand up and "resist any act of impunity by the PDP-led federal government.

"If you are talking of impeachment because of corruption, there is no government in Nigeria that was levelled with corruption than this present government. We have seen the aviation scandal, nothing was done. We have also seen the missing $20 billion and nobody is saying anything.

"Their plan is to control 24 states before the 2015 elections. But they must know that Nigerian people are tired of the PDP-led government. Nobody wants to continue in the state of insecurity and high level corruption in the country," the APC official stated.
