Bomb Blast Rocks Jos as Boko Haram Target Football Fans

Just days ater a twin bomb explosion rocked Terminus Market, Jos, capital of Plateau State, killing 118 people, another bomb explosion has ripped through a football viewing centre in the city.


According to reports, the bomb explosion said to be targeted at a football viewing centre took place on Bauchi road in Jos near university of Jos.

Viewing centres across the country were filled to the brim tonight as football fans were watching the Champions league final match between Real Madrid and Athletico Madrid.

"There has been an explosion in Jos," Manzo Ezekiel, spokesman for the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), told AFP but said it was not clear what caused the blast nor if there were casualties.



Also confirming the blast, Pam Ayuba, spokesman for the Plateau state governor Jonah Jang, said the blast happened on Bauchi Road at about 9:30 pm local time.

The blast was targeted at football fans watching the European Champions League final between Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid.

The casualty figures were yet to be ascertained as at the time of filing this report.
