President Obama praises Kanye West’s music

What does the Leader of the Free World think of the year's best album? President Obama has had a contentious relationship with Kanye West ever since referring to him as a "jackass" following the Taylor Swift incident in 2009. But when it comes to his music, even Obama is a fan of Yeezus.

Asked in a recent interview with People (via Politco) whether he'd rather "hang out" with the cast of Duck Dynasty or Kanye West and Kim Kardashian, Obama chose Duck Dynasty, but added, "Kanye's music is outstanding though. I've got a lot of his stuff on my iPad. If it was a concert, then I might not mind listening to him."

It should be noted that Obama's interview took place prior to the recent controversy surrounding Duck Dynasty. Even still, would Kanye accept an invitation to the White House? In an interview with Philadelphia's Hot 107.9 last month, Kanye admitted Obama's "jackass" comment was "how the world felt" at the time, but thought the President shouldn't have responded negatively. "I don't care if somebody the President or not. I care about thoughts, and how you helpin' people, and what you bring to the world. My music brings joy to people. What I create brings joy to people, and I'm about people. Me, I'm not about me. I'm about, 'I got an idea that people gonna like.'"
