FAMILY GUY Fans React To The Death of a Character

The latest episode of Family Guy left a huge number of fans disappointed with the way things out for the shows talking dog, Brian Griffin, who was killed after being hit by a car and it seems those fans are not willing to calm down and see things the way of the studio as a petition is being signed to get Fox to go back on that decision.

So far over 14,000 fans had hit up Change.org petition on Monday to sign a petition to resurrect Brian (voiced by Seth MacFarlane) after Sunday's episode "Life of Brian," and the desire to get him back on the show doesn't seem to be subsiding as a Facebook page dedicated to Brian is also gathering attention from fans.

In an interview with E! News the executive producer of the show Steve Callaghan, mentioned that the decision to kill off Brian's character seemed like a good one at the time it first came up- "Well, this was an idea that got pitched in the writers room and it sort of caught fire, and we thought it could be a fun way to shake things up."

Callaghan went on to add that fans would calm down after the decision to take Brian out of the show, saying; "Our fans are smart enough and have been loyal to our show for long enough, to know that they can trust us,' said Callaghan. 'We always make choices that always work to the greatest benefit of the series."

On why it had to be Brian, here's what he had to say; "It seemed more in the realm of reality that a dog would get hit by a car, than if one of the kids died. As much as we love Brian, and as much as everyone loves their pets, we felt it would be more traumatic to lose one of the kids, rather than the family pet."

While the writers of the show might have decided that it was time for Brian to leave, they didn't take a long time to replace him as the Griffin's went out to adopt a new dog, Vinny (voiced by Tony Sirico) later in the episode.

Let's know what you think; should Brian have been killed off, should he have been left for another season or are people just overreacting?
