First Lady’s Mother’s Funeral Slated For October

The funeral ceremonies of late Madam Charity Onyekwululachiya Fyneface Oba, the foster mother of the First Lady, Dame Patience Goodluck Jonathan, will commence on October 31st, 2013.
A statement by the First Lady’s Director of information Mrs Ayo Adesugba, stated that the ceremonies which will take place in both Port Harcourt and Okrika is expected to attract dignitaries and people from all walks of life.
Late Madam Oba, who was popularly called Mama Sisi, died in an auto accident on 22nd July, 2013.
The statement also said Mama Sisi was a devout Christian who gave her life to the service of God, humanity and her family whom she cherished. Madam Oba, who was known for her humility and charity,
was an accomplished business woman.
On the burial rites the statement said: “On Thursday October 31, 2013, a brief Service of Songs will take place at 9:00am at the Port Harcourt Polo Club, GRA Phase 2, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, after which her body leaves immediately for her husband’s compound in Okrika, Rivers State.
“On Friday, 1st November, 2013 the Lying-in-State will be at her husband’s residence at Ambemebiri, Okrika  from 6:00am to 9:00am.
“The Funeral Service will take place at 10:00am at the National Field, Okrika. This will be followed by the Interment at her husband’s compound at Ambemebiri in Okrika.
“There will be a reception for guests at the Palace of His Royal Highness, Late Sir S.P.U Ogan, the Amanayabo of Okrika at 2:00pm, while the grandchildren of the Late Mrs. Oba will host an evening reception at the National Field by 6:00pm which will attract popular entertainers”.
Late Mama Sisi is survived by many children, grandchildren, in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews.
“She is being mourned by many whose lives she transformed positively during her sojourn on earth” the statement added.
