Gov. Al-Makura Suspends Mgt of Nasarawa State University over missing N200m

The Governor of Nasarawa State, Umaru Tanko Al-Makura has replaced Prof. Aminu Mukailu as the new Vice Chancellor of the state owned University, Nasarawa State University Keffi following the suspension of Professor Shamsudden Amali by the state Government.

The position of the state Government was contained in a press statement made available to News men by the secretary to the State Government, Zainab Abdulmumini in Lafia.

Mukailu is to administer the activities of the state owned University awaiting the upshot of the independent committee's assignment, she further averred that the Governor also directed the management of the university to proceed on a 6-month compulsory leave.

Amali said the Governor, nevertheless, approved the replacement of a former Vice Chancellor of Kaduna State University, Aminu Mukailu on interim basis, The state commissioner of Justice and Attorney-General Hon.Innocent Lagi averred that the verdict to shelve the executive of the institution was reached at the State executive council meeting, He further buttress that the council deliberated on the recommendations of a visitation panel set up in January by the Government before taking the resolution.

Lagi said an independent committee was constituted to further look into the recommendations of the panel,While grapevine from the institution confided to our 247ureports.com correspondent that the suspension was not unconnected to the missing N200m doled out by president Goodluck Ebelemi Jonathan to the University to provide potable drinking water.

The decision of the Federation Government followed the uprising between students of the state owned University and men of the Nigeria Army leading to the death of scores of lives.

It was revealed that the N200m dole out to the institution developed wings and disappeared into thin air. Pundits from the institution said the management of the University are accusing security men on duty for missing money from the safe of the institution.
