Messi movieSoccer legend Lionel Messi’s story is the stuff biopics are made from. He displayed incredible skill from an early age but was among the smallest boys in his class. Doctors later learned he had a hormone deficiency that stunted his growth. Messi’s talent was so great FC Barcelona agreed not only to train him, but pick up the tab for his hormone treatments.
Epic Pictures has acquired the rights to the book “Messi: The Boy Who Became A Legend” by sportswriter Luca Caioli. The book’s been published in 31 different languages. It has also been updated to reflect his most recent accomplishments, which are many. He is FC Barcelona’s all-time leading scorer and in 2012 became the first player to score five goals in a Champions League match.
The movie company is billing this as a real-life Rocky story about a young boy who triumphs over impossible odds. Epic is targeting a release to coincide with the 2014 World Cup.
