Responding to the questions by newsmen at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, the Minister of Health Prof. Onyebuchi Chukwu said that although Nigeria had not reported any case of the disease, the threat was already real.
There is currently no vaccine against Ebola virus, thus Chukwu urged Nigerians to immediately seek medical attention if they have fever.
However, the officials are doing everything possible to prevent the spread of the virus, coming from the Central African Republic: they are producing informational leaflets, jingles for radio and TV and work with various groups of the society.
According to the minister, as bats are source of infection, one can be infected by eating fruits contaminated with the virus.
He urged Nigerians not to neglect personal hygiene
