The new Head of the Federal Civil Service, Alhaji Bukar Goni Aji, has stated that the civil service under his leadership will not tolerate indolence and warned of dire consequences to potential offenders.
Aji gave the warning yesterday in Abuja, during the handing over ceremony of the leadership of the Federal Civil Service.
According to Goni, "the implementation of the new Performance Management System, (PMS), which allows opportunity for rewarding excellence and punishment for indolence, shall receive our full attention."
He also said "we must as public servants, refocus our minds to maintain Rules and Regulations and Ethics of the Service," adding that "it is our duty to lead by example. At all times we must uphold the principles of probity, transparency and accountability."
The outgoing Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Alhaji Isa Bello Sali, earlier in his handing over address, lamented that he took over when the civil service was embroiled in a pension scam but "with the support of all you, we navigated the stormy waters of the time and succeeded in dousing the tension that had been generated by the scam" he said.
Former Head of Service present at the event include Ambassador Abu Obe, Yayale Ahmed, Ebele Okeke (first female Head of Service), Steve Oronsaye and Prof. Oladapo Afolabi.
