ASUU strike: Group urges presidency to sack Education, Labour Ministers

The ongoing nationwide strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, has continued to generate enormous controversies, even as a group under the aegis of Association of Northern Youth for the Advancement of Peace, Harmony and Development,ANYPAD, has called on President Goodluck Jonathan to sack both the Minister of Education, Prof. Ruqqayat Rufai and that of Labour and Productivity, Chief Emeka Wogu since they have refused to resign honourably.

The Group made its position known in a statement made available to Dailypost on Friday, and signed by its President, Melvin Ejeh.

According to him, "We therefore call on President Goodluck Jonathan to sack the two Ministers forthwith and employ all means within his reach to end the strike.

Adding that, "The ongoing ASUU strike is a complete show of incompetence and lack of respect for the future of Nigerian students.

ANYPAD warned that if the aforementioned Ministers don't vacate their offices, it will organize a mass street protest, for their inability to resolve the long standing differences between the Federal Government and ASUU.

The group further decried that, "We have watched with utmost dismay the manner in which the government and it's agents have been handling the issues of Nigeria's most important community, the academic community.
We are aware that most of this selfish public officers today enjoyed free Education and even got automatic employment.

"We wonder why they are adamant to ASUU and students' plight since 2009? They had asked.
