The government of Ghana yesterday agreed to re-open shops belonging to Nigerian traders clamped down early this year, following a diplomatic interface between the two countries.
The Ghanaian Minister of Trade and Industry, Haruna Idrissu rescinded the decision to permanently close the shops, during a meeting with a Nigerian delegation led by the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment Dr Samuel Ortom. Also the Ghanaian minister announced the suspension of the demand by the authorities for all Nigerian businesses to relocate from the Ghanaian local markets, even as he asked Nigeria to reciprocate the gesture by reviewing the ban on Ghanaian goods, particularly textiles and cement.
