Real Madrid Jose Mourinho, has refuted speculations that he is set to leave the club at the end of the season.
The 49-year-old made a shock decision to drop captain for club and country, Iker Casillas, to the bench in Saturday's 3-2 loss to Malaga, a move that many pundits believe is provocative, to get him sacked.
The defeat leaves them 16 points behind leaders Barcelona, but the Portuguese insisted he has never thought of resigning.
"No. Not during, or after," he said.
On hhis decision to leave out Spain's number one, he said: "It's a technical decision. The coach analyses the situation, looks at the players at his disposal and chooses his team. At the moment, for me and my coaching staff, Adan is better than Iker.
"You can invent the stories that you want but it's purely a technical decision."
He however refused to fault the lacklustre performance from his players, who were second best to Malaga.
"We're sad to have lost but the players have done their best. They tried against Espanyol and today, but we didn't have any luck.
"This week off comes at the ideal moment. The players are empty. They have given everything and they haven't been rewarded."
On whether it is still possible for his team to win the La Liga, Mourinho said: "Real Madrid were champions last season with a nine-point advantage to second place. This season we are at a distance which, in my opinion, is insurmountable. We have to assume responsibility that we are not having a good season."
