Nollywood stars, Saturday Independent editor for Miss Safety Nigeria jury

As momentum gathers over the first ever Miss Safety Nigeria holding in Lagos on Sunday, even more cheering news is coming from Kraftnam Productions, organisers of the pageant.

Commenting on the rationale behind the event, which is like no other in the country, founder, Madu Chikwendu, said it is one pageant that seeks to do much more than what obtains presently.

"This pageant is a product of our nation's recent tragic history. It has been inspired by the incessant road accidents, air crashes and the general insecurity in the land, the original idea was to contribute to the debate via a reality TV show but I later decided to combine it with a beauty pageant and create a spokesperson and campaigner for issues of safety. Miss Safety will be a role model for youths and lead the campaign for a safer world. It is going to be 12 months of intense activities."

Speaking further, Chikwendu, also a notable film maker, said, "The selection of this queen will be presided over by an impressive jury that includes Nollywood stars such as Kanayo O. Kanayo, Kate Henshaw, producer, Fidelis Duker and Olumide Iyanda, editor of Saturday Independent; entertainment lawyer, Mike Nwana and the CEO of Ereon Pageantry, Cheryl Momoh, among others."

Organisers say the beauty queen will become a rallying point and spokesperson for all issues relating to road safety, environment safety, air safety, workplace safety and other aspects of safety.

She and two others will fly Nigeria's flag at Miss Motors 2013 set to take place in Rome, ltaly, next year.

According to Momoh, a member of the Jury and chairman of the Privileges and Protocols subcommittee, "the Coronation Ball for Miss Safety will take place on December 9, 2012, at Mozida Club, Toying Street in Ikeja, Lagos and aside representing Nigeria in Itlay next year, the queen will get a cash prize.

While emphasising that Miss Safety is no ordinary beauty pageant as the winner must combine exceptional beauty with intelligence as this objective is tied to the issue of safety, Chikwendu said event will be witnessed by royal fathers like Omo N'Oba Erediauwa, Oba of Benin and Munirideen  Olatunji Yusuf, Oba of Onigbongbo kingdom who will be honoured for maintaining peace in their domains.
