UEFA Champions League: PSG hold Barca as Bayern defeat Juventus

Bayern Munich defeated visiting Juventus, 2-0.

Paris Saint Germain came from behind twice to secure a 2-2 draw against Barcelona as the French side kept alive their hope for a semi final place in the UEFA Champions League.

Lionel Messi shot Barca ahead in Paris in the 38th minute after connecting a pass from Brazilian Dani Alves. Messi has thus become the first player ever to score in 20 different cities in the Champions League. The joy of the Catalan side was however short-lived as Messi had to give way owing to a hamstring injury that saw Cesc Fabregas replace him.

PSG gave a good fight and were rewarded in the 79th minute as their talisman Ibrahimovic got them back on level terms.

While it was looking like the game will end 1-1, Barcelona continued their surge forward and were gifted a penalty when the referee rightly spotted an infringement on Alexis Sanchez and the resultant penalty kick was calmly converted by Xavi with just a minute left on the clock. PSG were given a lifeline in stoppage time when a shot from Matuidi had a slight deflection that saw them end the duel in a 2-2 draw.

In the other fixture German side Bayern München put a foot in the semi finals on the back of their 2-0 win over visiting Juventus.
David Alaba's opening goal for Bayern came inside the first 60 seconds and the German side consolidated their lead with another goal in the 63rd minute from Muller.

The second leg fixtures come up in a fortnight.
