Ahead of the retirement of Isa Bello Sali as new Head of Civil Service, President Goodluck Jonathan yesterday said the Federal Government will announce the name of his replacement today.
He made this disclosure at a valedictory session held by the Federal Executive Council for the retiring HOS.
Sali, who became head of service in September 2011, will attain the mandatory retirement age of 60 on March 23.
Dailypost gathered that Bukar Goni Aji has been tipped as the next Head of Service.
The incoming head of service, who is from Yobe State, is one of the three Federal permanent secretaries shortlisted to replace Sali,
The other two were Sheikh Goni Musa from Borno State and Umar Faruk Baba from Bauchi State.
Goni Aji, a serving permanent secretary in the office of the head of service, is the most senior of the three, having being appointed permanent secretary on October 15, 2008.
Aji will serve for 17 months before retiring in August 2014, as he would have served in the maximum of 35 years in service.
Goni Aji holds a Bachelor's Degree in History, which he obtained in 1984 from the University of Maiduguri. He also attended the Borno College of Basic Studies, Maiduguri, 1979-1981, Government College, Maiduguri, 1974-1979, Sabon Gari Primary School, Gashu'a, 1971-1974, and Dapchi Primary School, 1967-1971. Aji first joined the civil service as a school teacher in Jakusko of present-day Yobe State in 1979, and later served as a lecturer at the College of Education, Gashu'a in 1985-1986. At the Federal level, he served as a Director for years before becoming permanent secretary in 2008. He is at present permanent secretary, Common Service Office (CSO) in the Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Abuja.
