RAVE ENTERTAINMENT

Abuja inhabitants are well known around the nation for driving the latest and fastest cars, their expensive lifestyle, and most of all throwing the most outrageous and jaw-dropping parties. The youths in particular appeal to this side of Abuja, as they have a car stunt show every Sunday where you might see cars that look like something out of a sci-fi movie, there are even stunt crews like the Arab Boiz whose cars look like things out of fast and furious.

There are a lot of party crews out there and this is to introduce you to the newest being #RAVE ENTERTAINMENT. That's the new party crew that's taking Abuja by storm.

The owners of Rave Entertainment intended for it to be more than just a party organization. The founders' vision was to create a social hub where youths could see their friends (and your friends ;p) and themselves out of context, to give your boring lives a bit of glamour that you'd otherwise never have a glimpse of.

Of course they plan to have a website in order to pull this off which would go online early 2014. On this site, infos about their parties (and other events) and pictures from all parties all over are going to be posted for public viewing; So now you can reminisce on the hot parties you attend and the good moments and of course comment on the photos too. It would be like a facebook for parties and party goers.
Rave Ent is still in its early stages at the moment and what better way to introduce you to their awesome crew and the stuff they've got planned for you than to throw, as their name suggest, a Mad Rave which is a highly anticipated party on the 26th of December 2013 titled XMAS RAVE and I'll be there to see how they do. So mark your calenders, set reminders, make a date with the hottest girls, cancel all trips out of Abuja and no matter what, do not miss what promises to be the hottest party Abuja has ever seen.

See you there!

GORE gory details of last week's Boko Haram attacks on Damaturu, the Yobe State capital, emerged yesterday. No fewer than 128 people were killed, it was learnt.

Military and hospital reports indicated to Associated Press (AP) that 23 soldiers, eight policemen and 95 insurgents were killed in the five-hour long battle between the Islamic extremists and troops.

There has been no specific figure given by the military on the casualty , but the latest findings showed that the militants had a strong hand and caught troops by surprise.

'World's biggest airport' opens to passengers

Dubai's aviation industry achieved its biggest milestone yet on Sunday, when the emirate's new airport celebrated the arrival of its first commercial flight.

Located in Jebel Ali and part of Dubai World Central, an "aviation city" that the government has launched as a free economic zone, Al Maktoum International Airport is expected to become the world's largest airport upon completion.

Like the emirate's main airport Dubai International Airport 50 kilometers to the north, Al Maktoum International Airport is also owned by the government of Dubai and operated by Dubai Airports Company.

Although full commercial passenger services were originally scheduled for 2017, the mega project was delayed for years due to the regional financial crisis, and faces a new tentative end date of 2027. Various reports estimate the total cost at 120 billion dirhams ($32.67 billion).

The airport has been open for cargo flights since 2010.

Opening ceremony

Hungarian low-cost airline Wizz Air was the first airline to be welcomed at the new passenger terminal, and was greeted with a customary festive water salute.

Al Maktoum International Airport's two other launch carriers are Kuwait-based low-cost carrier Jazeera Airways and Bahrain's full-service airline Gulf Air, which also made it's inaugural flight to the new airport on Sunday.

State-owned carrier Emirates is expected to operate entirely out of the new hub by the time of completion.

Gulf News reported that more airlines are close to signing deals to use the new airport, with the Dubai Airports CEO hinting at more announcements to come.

Currently operating just one main runway, Al Maktoum will ultimately operate five runways with an annual capacity of 160 million passengers and 12 million tons of cargo.

To put those numbers into perspective, the world's current busiest airport, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, serviced approximately 95 million passengers in 2012. Dubai International Airport handled 57.7 million.

House Of Reps Threatens To Arrest Stella Oduah

The House of Representatives is threatening to issue a bench warrant for the arrest of embattled Minister of Aviation, Princess Stella Oduah, if, by Tuesday, she fails to appear before its Committee on Aviation.
Oduah had been summoned to answer questions on aviation related issues on the heels of the Associated Airlines plane crash last month.
The minister will obviously also respond to the lawmakers on the two controversial armoured BMW cars said to have been bought for her by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA).

Oduah was, as at last night, in Israel to sign a Bilateral Air Service Agreement (BASA), alongside President Goodluck Jonathan, with Israeli officials.

"If she fails to show up (for the House Committee hearing), we will issue a bench warrant to get her arrested", the House of Representatives, spokesman, Hon. Zakari Lafia Mohammed, said.

Mohammed, who spoke in an interview with Sunday Vanguard, went on: "This is a national issue that must be properly thrashed out with the zeal of a wounded lion. If need be, we will ask the Speaker to issue a bench warrant immediately she fails to show up and she will be arrested. We've given her enough grace as the committee will sit on Friday, Monday and Tuesday. All those excuses given on her behalf will not hold by the time we conclude our findings."

Meanwhile, NCAA has said it followed due process in procuring the two armoured vehicles.

In its presentation to the House of Representatives Committee on Aviation, the agency said: "Procurement of operational vehicles is provided for in NCAA 2013 Budget on line 6, page 10 and is in line with NCAA Condition of Service".

Court Awards Ibori’s $15m To FG

Its not like the money will be even spent on Nigerians. Most likely will be siphoned by one or two individuals.

A Federal High Court in Abuja on Friday ruled that the $15 million a former Delta State Governor, James Ibori, allegedly used to bribe an anti-corruption chief be handed over to the Federal Government.

The judge, Gabriel Kolawole, berated the Delta State Government for demanding that the money be returned to the state without providing evidence that Mr. Ibori did steal the money from the state.

"With utmost sense of responsibility as a judicial officer, to view the stiff resistance mounted by the Delta state government and its official as one which border on the state's acquiesce in the looting of its own fund or at best, as that of collaborators with its erstwhile governor on issue of $15 million allegedly offered to former EFCC chairman, Nuhu Ribadu as bribe," Mr. Kolawole said

Mr. Kolawole ordered that the money be immediately paid to the coffers of the appropriate authority of the Federal Government of Nigeria where earnings such as this are kept in the ordinary course of official business. He also said that the forfeited money be captured in the federal government's 2012 – 2013 earnings to address specific needs of the Nigerian people.

Mr. Ibori is currently serving a jail term in the U.K. for money laundering, although he is yet to be convicted by any Nigerian court for corruption.

Presidential Aide Sister Released By Kidnappers

Mrs. Augustina Douglas-Ayam, elder sister to the Senior Adviser to the President on Research, Documentation and Strategy, Mr. Oronto Douglas, has been released by her kidnappers.

Augusta was released after nine days of captivity, on Thursday night.
It could not be ascertained if any ransom was paid. However, a family source, who preferred anonymity, said Augusta was released on a humanitarian grounds.

He said that the family did not pay any ransom before she (Augusta) was released by her captors.
A statement by the family signed by Mr. Romeo Douglas read in part, "After nine traumatic days in the hands of abductors, our beloved sister Augusta-Ayam was unconditionally released to the family.

"We thank God for her protection and intervention. We also thank all Nigerians who through prayers and words of encouragement supported us throughout this ordeal.
"Our sister is currently in hospital receiving treatment. We will not be making further statements on this issue and we wish to put it behind us."

Augusta was seized and whisked away to an unknown destination in the creeks, by nine gunmen who were dressed in military fatigue on October 15.
The kidnappers, after keeping mum for about four days, eventually contacted the woman's husband last Thursday and asked for a whooping N500m.

After failing to reach the Presidential adviser, the bandits had to slash their initial N500m ransom to N17m on Friday.
But when it became obvious that even the N17m was unattainable, they reduced the  ransom to N10m.

However Augusta's husband, Mr. Aziayam Apaga, had allegedly pleaded with the kidnappers to reduce the ransom to N3m, insisting that that was what the family could afford.

The Verdict: The present ministerial ‘tani o mu mi’ should deeply worry us by Segun Adeniyi

Besides, on the balance of available evidence, I am of the opinion that it is the NCAA that should actually be held accountable for this sordid drama.
First, I sincerely apologise to my non-Yoruba readers who might feel bothered by the title for today's piece, especially considering that I could simply have used the word "impunity" which conveys more or less the same meaning. However, what I have found out about the Yoruba language (I guess it is the same with all our local languages) is that certain phrases have far deeper meanings than their literal interpretations. Therefore, when Yoruba people say someone is displaying a behaviour akin to "tani o mu mi", the kind of impunity being so described carries with it a certain sense of hubris for the perpetrator(s) and danger for the larger society.
Ever since the story of the purchase of two armoured cars worth about N255 million by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) broke on saharareporters.com, I have followed the controversy in the media with keen interest. Yet for me, the tragedy is not even in the transaction, as scandalous as it is, but in the official reactions. At a time most people were still prepared to give the Minister of Aviation, Ms. Stella Oduah, the benefit of the doubt, her media assistant, Mr. Joe Obi, went public, arguing that the purchase of the vehicles was a response to the threats made on the minister's life.
According to Obi, "a lot of entrenched interests felt that they had been dislocated from the sector. The minister began to receive series of threats to her life, but because of the general lack of security in the land, she did not want to raise an alarm but kept it quiet and then decided to protect herself. So those vehicles were purchased in response to the personal threats to her life because of the giant steps she has taken to reposition the sector." On why two vehicles were needed, Obi said: "normally, you don't buy one utility vehicle but you buy two at a time because you must have a back-up for public officials. The level of exposure which came with her job warranted the purchase of the vehicles."

Usain Bolt To Be Banned From Olympics

According to Tuesday's Daily Telegraph, Jamaican athletes, including sprint star Usain Bolt, could be banned from major events like the Olympics due to the country's handling of recent drug scandals.

World Anti-Doping Agency President John Fahey, in an interview with the paper, accused Jamaica of "farcical" behaviour in its attempts to defer an extraordinary audit of its anti-doping programme until next year.

This followed an invitation to WADA by  the Jamaican  Prime Minister to investigate revelations from the former Executive Director of the Jamaican Anti-Doping Commission  that it conducted no drug tests in the five months leading up to last year's London Olympics.
But JADCO's suggestion that it  would talk to WADA next year infuriated anti-doping chiefs.
If Jamaica are  deemed to be non-compliant with the WADA code, their athletes could be banned from major competitions until the situation is resolved even though the likes of multiple Olympic champion Bolt have never failed a drugs test.

He said, "I'm sure those journalists did not even stay till the end of the show. The show was "very very" successful. Vatican Confirms Communion Ban on Remarried Divorcees

The Vatican confirmed on Tuesday that Catholics who remarried after divorce are barred from receiving communion, dashing hopes that the ruling could change soon.

Archbishop Gerhard Mueller, head of the Holy See's doctrinal office, said in a long article in the Vatican newspaper that such couples could receive communion only if they had a Church annulment.

But he said "even if there is no possibility of admitting remarried divorcees to the sacraments,'' priests must show particular pastoral concern for people in difficult circumstances.

The question of married divorcees is a major issue in Catholic Churches in a number of developed countries, particularly in Germany, where bishops say it is a growing problem.

"Six more months and I'm going to be 60," Chan said. "And I (will) see how far I can go until my body tells me, 'Stop.'"

18+: Amazing Tricks of Great Oral Sex

Oral sex can be great addendum to your sexual package, but like most things we do between the sheets, it's best approached with a light-hearted attitude, rather than as a goal-oriented sprint to the finish. Here's how to put the love into your oral play:

Observe and connect. Your partner will give you cues as to how to proceed. Watch his or her face for signs of increased enjoyment or boredom. Listen for panting breath or small grunts or whimpers, which usually mean it's good. And if in doubt, take a second to ask: "Do you like it like this boo?"

Licking is the key to teasing your partner to pleasure, rather than non-stop sucking. Imagine you're eating a creamy soft-serve ice cream, dripping with goodness, and you don't want to miss a drop. Blowing hard is a complete no-no, but letting your partner feel your soft, warm breath as you sigh

Paul McCartney's New Album Misses Out on UK Top Spot

Paul McCartney's acclaimed album "New" entered the British music charts at number three in its debut week on Sunday, missing out on the top spot, sales figures showed.

The former Beatle's 16th solo album was outsold by the new number one, "Tribute" by English singer John Newman, and "Lightning Bolt" by U.S. rock group Pearl Jam.

McCartney, 71, has received some glowing reviews for his latest release, with the Daily Telegraph newspaper describing it as "vintage Macca: jaunty, melodic and occasionally whimsical".

The singer worked with four producers to create a work that has echoes of the catchy pop of the Beatles as well as more modern influences, including touches of hip hop and electronica.

There was no change at the top of the singles chart. American rock band OneRepublic's "Counting Stars" held on to the number one spot, holding off U.S. singer Miley Cyrus's "Wrecking Ball", according to the Official Charts Company.

Court Bans Silvio Berlusconi From Public Office

Berlusconi
A Milan court has ruled that former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi should be barred from holding public office for two years following a conviction for tax fraud.

Berlusconi can appeal Saturday's ruling and the ban would in any case have to be approved by the Senate, where Berlusconi has a parliamentary seat.

The vote in the Senate is expected to take place next month.

The Senate is dominated by Berlusconi opponents from both the left and the anti-establishment 5-Star Movement and is expected to vote to strip him of his seat. The decision over Berlusconi's future has been one of the most sensitive issues facing parliament.

Italy's Supreme Court on August 1 definitively upheld a tax fraud conviction against the billionaire, rejecting his final appeal against an earlier four-year jail sentence.

Rita Dominic To Test The Music Terrain

Don’t know if this is true,  but rumor has it that Rita Domnic wants to dip her toes in the Music waters.
Okay, in the history of Nollywood actors and actresses who’ve delved into music, say 90% of them didn’t get it right and so didn’t make much wave.
Desmond Elliot has been there, Kate Henshaw, Omosexy, Genevieve, Tonto, Jym Iyke, the list is endless. And now…Rita Dominic!
Okay, judging from her speaking voice, she’s got a sweet one going for her-a voice capable of melting a stony heart.           But singing? Donno yet.
Anyway, since her fellow actress, Kate Henshaw gave us the scoop that she’s in the studio, recording with Rita, let’s wait and see what both of them have for us.
